Training workshop in May

Kate Swade

Join us on the Dorset Coast in May for a weekend of interactive and fun training to help get your community land management project off the ground!

We are really pleased to be part of STIR Magazine’s series of workshops, all aimed at building the co-operative capacity of communities.

Mark and Kate from Shared Assets will facilitate a workshop on the 2nd and 3rd May, focusing on community management and governance of land and natural resources. The workshop will draw on Shared Assets’ experience of supporting new forms of management of woodlands, parks, green spaces, waterways and coastal areas. It will use case studies to outline the range of business models available for the development of land based social enterprise and provide new tools to help practitioners make better decisions about growing and scaling up their work.

This workshop is aimed people involved in existing or aspiring community groups or social enterprise who are involved in managing land and natural resources. We will ensure it’s tailored to the people attending, but over the weekend we will definitely cover:

  • examples of good practice in community management of land
  • the basics: legal structures and governance models
  • negotiating with landowners and different types of agreement over land
  • developing a sustainable business model that works for your situation
  • tools to help you make decisions about growth and scaling up

We will weave case studies and examples into the whole weekend, and provide space for attendees to work on the issues their own project is facing, with the opportunity for one to one advice.

***We are really pleased to announce that the Woodcraft Folk are sponsoring one free place on the workshop! To apply send an email to hello@sharedassets.org.uk saying why this would be useful for your project, in no more than 100 words.***
