Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site: Management Body and Funding Model

We are currently commissioned by Derbyshire County Council to review the management body and funding structure for the World Heritage Site. The site stretches 15 miles (24 km) along a river valley, is home to 30,000 people and has a complex mosaic of different land and property owners, as well as being protected through a variety of UK planning and conservation laws.

Starting with a document review to understand the context we are reviewing the effectiveness of the current structures in close collaboration with the management team. This has included carrying out interviews with stakeholders, and will involve at least one stakeholder workshop and an options appraisal, leading to a final recommended option, including recommendations for implementation.
